We started as
friends with opinions.

For years, a group of friends kept half-joking about starting a movie club. They’d run into each other at their families’ school events, parties, and summer barbecues, and discussions would inevitably turn to movies. “You should watch this…” and “that’s a great film” were common in conversations. The friends would sometimes comment that they should start a club to watch everyone’s favorite movies, but it took time for that idea to come to fruition.

In January 2024, they finally met to watch a movie together. The first movie night was a hit, but organization quickly became difficult. Suggestions for movies to watch arrived in emails, on slips of paper, and via text. Nobody knew what everyone else actually wanted to watch. There was no easy way to say “of all these movies, which one does the group most want to see?”

So the group decided to build a better way. Something where suggestions live in one place, every member has a real voice, and the group’s collective preference surfaces automatically. The site is named after that club, which still meets on Friday nights, but it was always meant for everyone.
